We’re a long-time family business who cares.
Dow and Bev Duncan started Duncan Heating & Plumbing in 1972 in their garage and our family-owned business has been faithfully serving Boone County and beyond for over 50 years. Originally located in West Boone, the shop moved two times before settling in its present location at 706 Allen Street in Boone, Iowa.

“Reliable…prompt, and reasonable.” “They just give plain, good, honest service.” These quotes from two of the many customers served by Duncan Heating & Plumbing over the years says it all. Our company’s motto is, “Where quality comes first!” and our family always makes sure our customers receive the best service at fair prices. We do every job as if we are working for ourselves.

Dow and Bev’s son, Steve, started working part-time in the family business when it opened in 1972, when he was still in high school. He learned the business quickly, becoming a full-time employee after graduating from high school in 1976. When Bev and Dow retired in 1983, Steve took over the management of the company.
Steve’s wife, Cindy, joined the company in the early 1990s as its office manager. She is the friendly voice and face of the company today. Steve and Cindy’s son, Nathan, joined the family business part-time, also while still in high school, and became a full-time employee upon graduating in 2003. In 2004, Josh Duncan, a cousin’s son, joined the company.

Along with residential and commercial heating, plumbing, air conditioning, and duct work services, our company also does sheet metal fabrication, installs and repairs septic systems, does excavating, well plugging, and field tile repairs, plus installs livestock waterers. All of these services use top-quality equipment and products from well-known companies in the industry, including Ruud, Navien, Well-McLain, Ritchie, Delta, Honeywell, Kohler, Gerber, and Onyx.
Giving back to the community has always been a big part of our family’s values, and Duncan Heating and Plumbing, Inc. has donated countless hours of service, products, and money to various community entities and projects, in order to make life better for Boone County’s citizens. Some of those beneficiaries include the Boone County Historical Society, the Boone County Fair, the Boone Area Humane Society, Boone Biblical Ministries, the local Diabetic Society, United Way of Boone County, and many more.
